Shade Tree Board Lifts Moratorium on Tree Dedications

NJ MADISON — Madison Shade Tree Board elects 2026 officers, lifts tree dedication moratorium. The Shade Tree Management Board unanimously elected Gene Cracovia as Chair, with Judy Honohan as Vice Chair and Elizabeth Fontaine as Secretary. The board lifted a previously imposed moratorium on tree dedications and will work with the Department of Public Works to establish standardized procedures for memorial trees.

The 2026 shade tree budget has been increased for maintenance, with 280 planting sites identified for spring planting. In 2025, the board processed 114 service requests affecting 336 trees.
