NJ MADISON — Madison Planning Board approved the Drew University subdivision enabling permanent forest and arboretum preservation. The Board voted 6-0 on a motion by Mayor Conley to approve preliminary and final major subdivision at 36 Madison Avenue, Block 3001, Lot 1. Professional land surveyor James Sens testified regarding the lot configuration, which required relief from dimensional requirements including lot area, lot width, and setbacks.
Board Engineer Dennis Harrington and Board Planner Susan Favate supported the requested variances because the subdivision involved preservation rather than development. The subdivision would enable the Borough to acquire approximately 48 acres for protection under the New Jersey Green Acres Program.
