Madison parks committee pursues Rotary peace pole project

NJ MADISON — Madison Parks Advisory Committee pursues Rotary peace pole project. The Committee, with three members present (Debbie Mantone, Geoffrey Thomas, and Tom Crimmins), determined to pursue the project to install an 8-foot-tall Peace Pole displaying "May Peace Prevail On Earth" in eight languages. Mayor Bob Conley and Rotary representative Michel Belt attended the meeting.
The pole would be placed at either Cole Park or James Park, ordered in early summer 2026 for installation and ceremony on International Peace Day, September 21, 2026. The Committee also discussed permanent memorialization of deceased volunteer Cathie Coultas and established monthly meetings for the second Wednesday of each month.
