NJ MADISON — Madison Environmental Commission pursues native plant grants, eyes soccer field redesign. Chairperson Claire Whitcomb oversaw the nine-member commission's review of the Borough's plan to replace a soccer field near the Community Pool with natural turf and pesticide-free maintenance. The commission also submitted a $2,000 grant application to Sustainable Jersey to replace invasive barberry bushes with native species, with member Blair Conley investigating a Morris County Parks grant for forest interns.
Commission members discussed launching a "free the trees" campaign with the Rotary Club focused on ivy removal at the Madison Public Library.
