Historic Preservation Commission approves sign, affirms enforcement authority

NJ MADISON — Madison Historic Preservation Commission approves sign, awards preservation honors. Chair Dr. Jill Rhodes reported that the commission approved a Sugarland Bakery sign at 57 Main Street and confirmed with Municipal Land Use Attorney Janice Bauer that it can enforce downtown facade decisions.
The commission also approved an air-conditioning unit replacement at 26 Main Street. For May's Historic Preservation Month, it proposed awards for 49 Park Avenue, Puddingstone House, as residential and Chase Bank at 2 Waverly Place as commercial recipient, with member John Solu suggesting a bronze HPC plaque for the bank building.
