NJ MADISON — Madison Environmental Commission secures Sustainable Jersey plant swap grant and plans summer community events. Eight commission members gathered virtually on May 28 to confirm the plant-swap grant win and discuss a companion gas leaf blower grant from the funder. The commission launched a "Quiet Summer" campaign set to kick off June 6 at the Farm & Artisan Market, distributing bilingual leaflets to landscapers encouraging a voluntary summer pause on gas leaf blower use.
A June 8 event, "When the Forest Breathes," will feature commission member Kirsten Wallenstein speaking on MRCC forest restoration and residents John and Susan Landau on home pocket forests. Members also addressed park maintenance including salt spillage cleanup and dead wood removal.
