Board of Health reorganizes; Balwierczak elected president

NJ MADISON — Madison Board of Health reorganizes and approves four resolutions unanimously at January meeting. Dr. Joseph Balwierczak was elected president and Cassaundra Sledge vice-president at the reorganization meeting, with all seven board members voting yes on four consent agenda resolutions covering 2026 meeting dates, Health Officer Megan Avallone's appointment, the Board Attorney contract, and Janet Wagstaff's appointment as Alternate Registrar.

Health Officer Avallone reported all food establishments passed November inspections and highlighted New Jersey's significant flu season with high Flu A activity documented in wastewater and emergency room visits, with the state not yet at peak season. The CDC has removed six vaccines from its recommended childhood vaccination list.
